2017 Cotswold Clouds Trial Entry Pack

“On Sunday 5th February 2017 we welcome you to join us, as we have done since 1963, for our Cotswold Clouds Classic Trial. Over the years many competitors and spectators have enjoyed the Cotswold Hills, and this year will hopefully be no exception.

Some sections have been eased to suit all classes but still present a challenge, and of course, we still have the old favourites to be climbed such as Crooked Mustard, Nailsworth Ladder and Wicked Juniper. A couple of new sections in Badgers Wood will finish the event.

The Clouds has been a successful trial attracting a full entry for many years, and won the ACTC Trial of The Year award in 2016. The organising team of Carl Talbot, Mark Hobbs, Mark Linforth, Nigel Scotford, Suzanne Staddon and Ben Giles look forward to receiving your entries.”

Exmoor Trial 2017 Regs Available

North Devon Motor ClubEntries are now open for the 2017 Exmoor Trial.

2017 Exmoor Trial Entry Pack

“Welcome to the 2017 Exmoor Trial, which is a round of the 2017 ACTC Car and Motorcycle Classic Trial Championships, and ASWMC Classic Reliability Trial Championship. This year there are a few new lanes in this event which we hope will provide you with some new challenges. The route is approximately 75 miles on OS Map 180 in the very north of Devon with a real mixture of sections which are non-car/motorcycle breaking including the infamous Beggars Roost, High Bray and others enjoyed by competitors in previous years. The route will include stops for fuel near the start, approximately half way and near the end of the route. This year we are running the event under a MSA dual permit, Clubmans & National B. Those who enter the Clubmans event do not require a MSA Competition Licence, if you want to contend the Championships then you will have to enter the National B event. Motorcyclist who do not have a ACU Trial Affiliation can purchase a One Event Trial Registration, ideal for beginners to have a go. Breakfast will be available for purchase at the Cedars should you need refreshment.

We hope you will enter this event and find the day both interesting and challenging, we are working hard to make it as competitive as possible.”

Northern Trial 2017 Regs Available

Fell Side Auto Club LogoEntries are now open for the 2017 Northern Trial. Separate regs and entry forms for cars and bikes are below.

2017 Northern Trial Entry Pack (Cars)
2017 Northern Trial Entry Pack (Bikes)

“The 2017 Northern Classic Trial has a compact route of 57 road and 20 forestry miles around the Northern Lake District visiting many of the sections from previous years including the infamous Sandale, Black Hole and, once again, Big Cockup. We will use variable tyre pressures, diversions and a few restarts to make the trial more enjoyable for all competitors. The start venue is at the Hope’s Auction Mart in Wigton, they are geared up for farmers and we fit in well. Very good hot food and drinks will be available before the start and after the finish. Last year, thanks to our competitors, we raised £250 for the Flood Relief Fund.

In the National B event is open to members of member clubs of the ACTC. We have the eight standard car classes for those drivers wishing to enter the ACTC Championship.
The Clubmans event, which doesn’t require a MSA Competition Licence, is open to members of FSAC and members of invited clubs: – MCC, VSCC, Wigton MC, Preston & District VCC, Durham AC, Middle-England CVC, Ilkley DMC, Airedale & Pennine MCC and other ACTC Affiliated Clubs. Except for class 0 the Clubmans event will follow the same route and sections as the National B. This year’s event is Round 3 of the ACTC Championship for cars.

Storm Desmond caused us more than a few problems in 2016, several sections were washed out and unusable or blocked by fallen trees. On top of this forestry operations meant we were unable to access several more. Twelve months on and forestry operations have moved on and time has restored some of the damaged sections. We hope to use Big Cockup again for the first time for about eight years.

If you are unable to enter perhaps you would be willing to join our enthusiastic team of marshals, Myke Pocock will be very pleased to hear from you on 01228 530555 or [email protected] .

Wishing you all the best for Christmas and New Year

Fred Mills, Trial Secretary”

Clee Hills Trial 2017 Regs Available

Midland Automobile Club LogoEntries are now open for the 2017 Clee Hills Trial. The event now caters for the motorcycle classes, and is offering a special reduced entry fee for novice entrants.

2017 Clee Hills Trial Entry Pack

“WELCOME TO THE CLEE HILLS TRIAL IN SOUTH SHROPSHIRE

2017 sees a new look to the event, with the introduction of classes for motorcycles. Original organiser Simon Woodall steps back into the role of Clerk of the Course, assisted by Tim Fairbrother (tbc) in the same role for the bikes.

The start returns the the Afcot Lodge on the A49 north of Craven Arms, but now with trailer parking for all in the field behind the start. After last year’s monodirectional route we return to the the twin loop system that gets us all done in the mid-winter daylight. There’s more common use of sections, meaning extra sporting enjoyment for the marshals and a consistent flow of competitors.

There will be a few more challenges for the expert drivers and riders, but also new incentives to welcome the trialling novice to our wonderful motorsport. So for those of you who know of a prospective trialler, perhaps we can entice them out on a road based Classic Trial. About 75 miles around Wenlock Edge and the delightful Long Mynd, some old lanes and some woodland, and relatively non-damaging in our class 0 option.

The event will also run as a dual permit, with Clubmans accommodating those without a competition licence, for example MCC entrants. VSCC entrants continue to be especially welcome, giving delight to other drivers in their ‘moderns’, the marshals and spectators alike.

2017 is the 70th Anniversary of the Clee Hills Trial. The 1947 event, which was run in heavy snow, features in C.A.N. May’s classic book ‘More Wheelspin’.”

Camel Classic Trial 2016 Regs Available

Camel Vale Motor ClubEntries are now open for the 2016 Camel Classic Trial.

2016 Camel Classic Trial Entry Pack

“The Camel Classic Road Trial first ran in 1983 (called the Octo for the first two years) thanks to two new trialers Hans Viertel and Pete Allen. The event flourished every year and soon became a round of the Chester Motor Club Trials Championship and later ACTC and ASWMC Championship rounds. The original organising team of Hans and Pete were still running the event 31 years later in 2014.

Sadly Hans suddenly passed away in 2015 which was a huge loss to Camel Vale Motor Club and the trialling community. Hans was described by many as a true gentlemen and he is greatly missed by all. He really was totally immersed in trials; be it as a competitor, marshall or organising the Camel Classic in December every year. We hope his memory can live on in this event for many years to come.

Again this year the Camel Classic will be run as a dual permit event so that non-championship competitors may enter under the Clubmans permit and will not be required to produce a Competition Licence.

For the first time ever in 2015 we invited motocycle solo’s and outfits to enter the trial. This was a success and all the riders enjoyed the event so we will continue this for future years.

Hope you enjoy the event!”

Kyrle Trial 2016 Regs Available

Ross & District Motor Sports Club LogoEntries are now open for the 2016 Kyrle Trial – running in October for the first time on Sunday 30th.

2016 Kyrle Trial Entry Pack

“Ross & District Motor Sports Club have pleasure in welcoming you to the 39th running of The Kyrle Trial.

A big change this year is the new date. This date change has been implemented so that we avoid the dreaded Goshawk nesting season which severely limits where we can go in the Forest of Dean. So hill wise things will be different due to this date change, wet but hopefully not too wet. You will note that we are starting the trial earlier than usual and this is being done so that we hope everyone can finish in daylight, as the clocks change the night before the trial.

The Clerk of the Course team is the same as last year, Nigel Green and Paul Bartleman. They have been out and about during the summer taking a look at old and new sections. Ongoing timber felling at Newton Woods, Monmouth still makes the use of hills here questionable. Weather-wise prepare for anything; hill-wise, real hills and certainly lots of mud. We will use some old favourite sections and hopefully, some new sections.

The start will be at our usual spacious and well-equipped Whitchurch venue with fuel (cheapest in the Ross area), a good café and ample parking. The finish of the trial remains at our Club House in Ross-on-Wye where tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available and the bar will be open to help quench honest thirst! Note the date, Sunday 30th October and please come along to marshal if you cannot enter. Tom Baker will be very glad to hear from you at any time on 07795 278899.

We look forward to seeing you for another good day’s trialing with around 12 competitive hills and two observed tests. Remember, our hills are not rough, but they are tough and steep.

Nigel Green, Paul Bartleman, Stuart Harrold, Neil Forrest, Glenn Morgan, Glenn Morgan, Tom Baker and the Organising Team.”

Tamar Trial 2016 Regs Available

Launceston & North Cornwall Motor ClubEntries are now open for this years Tamar Trial, regs and entry form are below.

2016 Tamar Trial Entry Pack

“Launceston & North Cornwall Motor Club and MG Car Club Devon & Cornwall Centre welcome you to the 70th Tamar Trial to be held on Sunday 23rd October 2016.

This year’s Tamar will follow a similar road route to last year, staying in North Cornwall and West Devon. We are again using the starting area at Martin’s Cash & Carry and Launceston Football Club venue which is just a short distance from the A30 dual-carriageway and less than 2 miles from our finish at The Winds of Change, South Petherwin. The trial will of course include the favourite hills of recent years, we plan to re-introduce a few sections of old and we have some new finds to keep the regulars on their toes. Last year we were pleased to be able to complete the trial in daylight and we hope to do so again.

We are once again running the car side of the trial under a dual-permit. This allows non-championship contenders or those who perhaps only enter a few events over a year the chance to participate in the trial without the need for a competition license. Motorcycle competitors will again this year benefit from being covered for road mileage under the normal authorization insurance certificate, meaning separate cover is not required. For the Cars, Lockton’s have introduced a flat rate scheme of £5 per vehicle for on-event cover which will ensure that all competitors are appropriately covered.

We look forward to offering you a good day’s trialling in a beautiful part of Devon and Cornwall.”
