“We are grateful to the Clovelly Estates Trust for allowing their car park and facilities at the visitors centre to be used for the start and finish again this year. We do not promise mud for a trial in September but we do have an abundance of sections in the spectacular North Devon countryside. We should have at least 17 sections and 2 special tests in a route of 55 miles. Please come and have fun with us.

“ROUND 8 OF THE ACTC CHAMPIONSHIP AND ROUND 3 OF THE ACTC NORTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP FOR CARS & MOTORCYCLES.

We are delighted to invite back all CLUBMEN, ACTC, ACU and VSCC competitors for the fourth running of this popular event. You are promised another excellent variety of sections and a new one introduced to keep you on your toes. We have also increased the off road mileage between sections as requested by some of our regular motorcycle competitors.  Pateley Bridge cattle market is again playing host, ensuring a compact route plus ample parking for competing vehicles, plus trailers and tenders. The adjoining café will be open for food and drink for the duration of the event, whilst fuel is available nearby.

As in previous years we will be running a raffle in aid of the Air Ambulance. This charity is very dear to the hearts of our landowners and making a donation to this charity greatly helps us to obtain permissions to use our sections and farm tracks.

The Trial will have Clubmans and Nat. B permits, with the normal classes for cars & motorcycles. Plus as last year there will be additional separate classes with awards :-

Class 0 :- to cater for those preferring not to tackle the more difficult sections there will be an open car & a closed car class.

Class V :- Long & Short wheelbase classes  for VSCC eligible cars. (VSCC members may alternatively enter either class 2 or 5)

Class X :- Road legal motorcycles that do not comply with classes A to D.

Also this year we have applied for and obtained an ACU Special Events Permit which allows motorcycles and motorcycle sidecar outfits fitted with road legal tyres that do not comply with ACU tyre regulations TSR8 to enter the event in this class.

As last year we are also giving an award to the best Japanese production car entered in class 5, so come along and enter your X90’s & MX5’s (This award will not affect the normal class positions in class 5).

We are also giving an award to the best Historic non production Trials Car built prior to 1970, under 1200cc, complying with and entered in Class 8.

We hope you can enter for a really good days trialling.  If you are unable to compete and would like to marshal please contact Rupert North on 07887 376739 or [email protected]

Presidents Trial 2018 Regs Available

Entries are now open for the 2018 Presidents Trial, running on Sunday 29th April.

2018 Presidents Trial Entry Pack

“We invite you to this years Presidents Trial, held in Bonyalva Woods near Hessenford, just off the A38 near Castle Motors.

This years event is almost a month later than previous years – so hopefully the ground is a bit drier – and is a full 4 weeks after the Lands End – so plenty of time to get your car ready.

We are hoping to get permission to use the woods on the other side of the road (this land was sold by the Duchy last year) – so if all goes well this will allow the return of the “Lydcott Long” hill, always a favourite in the past.

The layout of the woods allows us to offer double drives – so perhaps this is a chance for your navigators to experience a trial from the drivers seat!

We have some ambitious plans for this event in future years, but we need your support to keep the event viable. Please forward this onto anyone else you think would like to come and compete, or if you would like to marshal please contact Claire Rippon – [email protected]

We hope to see you all on a warm and sunny spring day!”

Venue : Bonyalva Woods, Hessenford (PL14 3PX – OS Map Ref: 201/306582)

Bovey Down Trial 2018 Regs Available

Entries are now open for the 2018 Bovey Down Trial.

2018 Bovey Down Trial Entry Pack

“Regulations are now available for this year’s Bovey Down Single Venue Clubman Classic Trial. In 2018 this will be 3 weeks after the Lands End trial. Please enter early as we can only accommodate around 40 entries in the restricted space available to us. Windwhistle Motor Club Ltd. is pleased to be able to run this non-championship event again this year. The club continues to develop this event and are looking to alter sections again this year. The event is as competitive or friendly as you like to make it, however with sections run in 3 groups, coffee breaks with onsite catering and toilet facilities it serves well as a great social event and a great season finale for the West country events. We offer you the opportunity for at least 3 daylight attempts at Norman’s Hump and Clinton as used for many years in the MCC Exeter Trial and other sections which the landowner has kindly allowed us to create are included. No competition licence is required. In an attempt to encourage younger club members entries may be accepted from drivers aged 16 and over who do not hold a full RTA licence provided they are accompanied by someone that does, who is over 17 and is also an experienced trials driver and must produce a valid club membership card. A membership application form to the Windwhistle Motor Club will be available by email on request to the event secretary, or from the club website, to encourage entrants to join us on a more regular basis. There will be a local charitable catering facility on site all day. Bacon rolls, pasties and homemade cakes etc. and a toilet facility. The flint surface at the venue can be aggressive on your tyres – perhaps use this opportunity to use up old tyres. If you still have some KL78s or Kingpins K4S we will allow you to use them.”

Venue : Bovey Down Woods, Stafford Cross, Southleigh (no reliable postcode, sorry!)
