Fell Side Auto Club Northern Classic Trial 22nd February.
It is with regret that we have taken the decision to cancel the trial. Of the 15 sections, 12 and two Observed Tests take place within the North Lakes forests. Forest Enterprise have a policy of closing the forests and associated facilities when the wind gust speed reaches or exceeds 47mph. At present it is predicted to be at 50 or over for the areas we use. We cannot take a chance that it may drop by the weekend and our FE contact reports that the Met Office are warning of another named storm in our area so that looks highly unlikely. We needed to take the decision now to get the message out to all concerned.
This year has seen the most intense pressure on our organisation team ever and to have developed and instigated extensive Safety procedures and all the associated procedures we are absolutely gutted not only for all our entrants but the many marshals and officials that have made the trial such a success.
